Got cranberries? I had more cranberries than we could eat so they became the inspiration for this easy holiday table setting. Because cranberries float, they look gorgeous in glass vessels on a table. Choose clear glass vessels of different heights for interest. I featured a taller footed compote for the center of the table which could hold several floating candles and 4 smaller glass votive holders( Dollar store)to flank it. I filled them half way with fresh cranberries, added water to the rim and floated round candles in each. The table was left bare with a rich burgundy center runner embellished with gold embroidery. On this I scattered Christmas ornaments in reds and gold with some fragrant holiday greenery. Gold chargers with green and pink mismatched china complemented the centerpiece. Gold napkins were tied simply with red beaded rings adorned with more evergreens. The open chair back was tied with cascading burgundy and gold ribbon, gold ornaments and boughs of fir. The chandelier was also dressed in a berry garland and bows of the same velvet and gold ribbon as on the chair back. The restrained yet serene table truly glowed under the candlelight. Because I had to take most pictures with the candles blown out to minimize glare, they failed to capture how pretty this table turned out. But you’ll get the idea. I set the table 3 days ahead and the cranberries held up!

Thank you, Johanne, and to you 🙂 x
A beautiful, elegant table with those nice touches of organics…the cranberries and greenery! By the way I love the painted ceiling above your table Johanne…caught a glimpse of that in one pic..I so like seeing other folks houses inside as well as outside..Your dinner was no doubt a hit!! Happy, Happy.
Thank you Teresa! Not that I was coordinating my menu to the table décor but I made your cranberry cake for this dinner! Making it again to take to a party tomorrow! The ceiling was a mural painting to represent my French heritage and my husband’s PA German with French iconography and Fraktur Art. It is joined in the center by a heart and spans the length of the table which has been in my husband’s family for 5 generations. Probably more than you wanted to know! But that ceiling mural is very special to me. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.
